The Bigger Your Problems Seem

Dr. Tony Evans wisely said the farther you are from God, the bigger your Goliath looks. We can accurately say that the farther we are from God, the bigger our problems look.

John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

If we follow Jesus from afar our problems will look bigger. If all we can see are our problems we are way too far behind Him. Many of Jesus* apostles called themselves servants of God. A wise servant will stay close to his Master so as not to miss any of His commands. I trust you have noticed that when you are serving God, your problems look smaller and when you are serving yourself they look bigger. Actually, when we are serving God, our problems are His problems.

Jeremiah 32:17: Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

Luke 1:37: For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Not knowing the Lord and forgetting His promises can also make our problems seem bigger.

Romans 8:31: What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Psalms 118:6: The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Isaiah 41:10: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

1 John 4:4: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The smaller our faith in God, the bigger our problems will look.

2 Thessalonians 1:3: We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

Is our faith growing or does it need a boost from the author and finisher of faith?

Hebrews 12:1: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We ought to pray like these wise followers of Jesus:

Mark 9:24: And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Luke 17:5: And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

It is incredible how far we can get from the Lord Jesus who lives in our hearts.

James 4:8: Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
